Vacancy for a Town Councillor

Published: 18 July 2023

OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME A PATELEY BRIDGE TOWN COUNCILLOR
FINAL DEADLINE OF MONDAY 24TH JULY 2023 TO APPLY

Are you looking for a worthwhile and rewarding way to help your local community?

Do you want to stand for what you believe in locally?

Whatever needs changing or protecting in the parish of ‘High and Low Bishopside’*, you could be at the heart of it. You could be part of the team that helps to ensure that this area of outstanding natural beauty is enhanced and thrives into the future.

(*Note the parish extends is bounded by the river Nidd in Pateley Bridge and extends from the southern part of Wath to Brimham Rocks, taking in Glasshouses, Wilsill, Blazefield and Fellbeck, extending up to Dallow Moor.)

If this role appeals to you, we would love to hear from you.

Pateley Bridge Town Council has one vacancy which we are looking to fill at our meeting on Tuesday 1st August 2023. To join, you would need to be available to attend the meeting on that night. If there is more than one candidate, short interviews will be held by councillors.

We are very friendly and look forward to welcoming a new town councillor on board.

To apply, please contact the Town Clerk on clerk@pateleybridgetowncouncil.gov.uk by the deadline of midnight this coming Monday 24th July confirming that you meet the eligibility criteria. We also ask that you provide a short statement saying why would like to join and what skills you can offer the council.

Here is a link to a document providing more details about what the role entails.

Alternatively, you would be very welcome to have an informal chat with one of our councillors.

[Please note that this vacancy is separate and additional to the 3 vacancies being filled by election on Thursday 20th July. The election is being held by North Yorkshire Council after the requisite number of eligible voters within the parish exercised their legal right to call for one.

This does mean that the person taking up the 4th vacancy will be joining the council at the same time as at least 3 others, so will not be alone in being new to the role.]
