Mayor's New Year message

Published: 05 January 2022

So, twelfth night has passed, the festive season is once again behind us and will soon be a distant memory, and we have 2022 to look forward to which still, almost two years in is predominantly overshadowed by the CV-19 pandemic. I am sure I am not alone in hoping that this year will finally see some positive news, giving individuals and businesses a more stable and reassuring platform from which to move forward.

I am extremely excited that finally this year we should be able to start some work on the Millennium Green in Pateley Bridge. This is an open space available to all for picnics, dog walking or just quiet contemplation in a beautiful setting. We have researched and put together an action plan to create a structured maintenance programme for the Green, a plan in cooperation with RAF Menwith Hill which will over time improve the area, make it more sustainable and well managed. With many months of preparatory work carried out it is great that we can start to get dates in the diary for the spring, to move this joint initiative forward.

This year is an election year for Pateley Bridge Town Council, always an exciting time as change is good, bringing fresh minds, ideas and enthusiasm to the organisation. If you have an interest and would like to help your local community then why not stand to become a local Councillor, it is a very interesting, and rewarding thing to do.

Finally, I would like to wish everybody my very best wishes for the New Year, and I hope this year will prove in every possible way to be better for all of us.

Cllr. Mike Holt

Mayor of Pateley Bridge
